We are so blessed to have men and woman who serve our country knowing that the outcome at times can be negative. I am grateful for a holiday to celebrate the lives of those who serve faithfully and diligently for our country. What a sacrifice it is to put your life on hold and travel across the world to serve. Matt has a grandfather who served in World War II and was taken as a prisoner of war. He didn't see his wife and children (one born while he was gone) for a year. He planted a seed of respect and patriotism in his families hearts even though service wasn't necessarily good to him. The list of examples goes on and on and for all of those examples

Here's to all the great men and women who serve in our military both in the past and present.
I've really appreciated the way Canadians celebrate this holiday--"Remembrance Day." They take it so much more seriously than we do in the states--everyone wears a red poppy pinned to their clothing in memory of the peom "Flanders' Field." The kids had a big assembly about it at school and read books in class. It's such an important time to remember--thanks for your post.
