GET YOUR COLD LEMONADE!!!

When we were in Utah in June we were able to spend some time with our Kent Warnick cousins. Let me tell you a about the little girl in this picture with Abigail. Her name is Jessica and she is so outgoing and so confident and accepting of everyone. A couple of years ago Jessie's vision was getting fuzzy and after complaining her mom took her to the doctor. The doctor did some x-rays and testing and found a tumor behind her optical nerves. Jessie was diagnosed with cancer and has been fighting ever since. For about the past four years Jessie has been in and out of chemo and spent many nights in the hospital. As a result of Jessie's tumor she is now completely blind in one eye and almost completely blind in the other. When we arrived in Utah she had just gotten home from her hospital stay where they were replacing a stunt. We went to visit her and take her some goodies and just catch up. We left that evening and were on our way to our Dude Ranch vacation. A week later we came back to Pleasant Grove and Jessie had been admitted to the hospital again for other problems. The next day she was safe to head home and so we met her family at In and Out Burger. After that Abigail and Jessie went with Shellie (Jessie's mom) to get all of the ingredients for a lemonade stand that Jessie had wanted to do for quiet a while. The girls were very cute, they sat there with their sign and got frustrated as car upon car drove right by. Thankfully many family members stopped by to help their cause. Abigail would hold the sign as Jessie would sit on the cooler and call out, "Lemonade!" After a couple of hours the girl's ended up each making about $4.50. That was pretty good for .25 lemonade. I learned a couple of things that day, 1-I will stop more often to buy lemonade from frustrated little salesman. 2-I am definitely grateful for my health and for healthy kids. I learned that it's the little things that matter. Jessie has had a lot of ups and downs, mostly downs, and all she wanted to do was have a lemonade stand. It has been a great teaching experience for Abigail and it has softened my heart watching her. Jessica is very loved by this Warnick family.
